Let's Go Eat

The Origin of Porkies

Sara was born August 31st, 1900 in Butte, Montana and was raised on a ranch at the Nine Mile. She was the youngest of eleven children and raised eight of her own. In 1959, she created her own pork fillet sandwich and in 1960 she sold her first order of Porkies to the Copper City Bowl in Anaconda, Montana. Her business was set up in her home and from there she would wholesale to several Montana cities including Helena’s A&W and the RB Drive Inn. Her business was very successful in that she worked diligently; only using the best ingredients and the prime cut of the center pork loin. Never did she compromise the quality of her sandwich.
